Aside from these issues, in order to really be able to read data effectively, Mark spent a fair amount of time reverse engineering the Haltech datalogging binary information and putting together a log reader to use to read. To fix this stuff, I contacted Jay at jayracing. He gave me a good price on a Haltech Platinum Sport I decided to go with this over an AEM for a bunch of reasons. While the connector is physically different from the Sport series, the pins inside the connector are the same. The other main reason I chose this was because of the software. The requirement is a programmable replacement for the stock ECU, in a road car that may see the occasional trackday. My first thoughts were that the Sprint would be ideal, the cost isn't too bad and it comes fairly well spec'd for a entry level ECU. However, I then started to look at the Sport Obviously the cost jumps significantly, but then as they say, if your going to do it, do it right first time. So looking down the spec list for the Sport , there are a few points that I'm not too bothered about, such as the anti-lag, launch control, valve timing control, nitrous control etc I'm no engine tuner and have very little experience with aftermarket ECU's, so other peoples thoughts on this would be interesting to hear.
Is the Sport worth the bigger price tag? Funny this just popped up i had to make the same decision last week lol, my mapper was in.
