The UF College of Veterinary Medicine is Florida's only veterinary college and provides many unique educational programs for students and services aimed at helping pets, wildlife and endangered species. We offer a a four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programs as well as M. Co-located with the Shands Jacksonville Hospital, the Jacksonville Health Science Center excels in education, research and patient care that expresses our abiding values of compassion, excellence, professionalism and innovation.

Our state-of-the-art medical center serves an urban population of 1 million from north Florida to south Georgia. The UFCOM-J offers accredited graduate medical education residency and fellowship programs, in addition to non-standard fellowship programs.

Clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for UFCOM undergraduate medical students and elective rotations to students from other accredited schools. Students rotate through the various clinical settings on the campus, and primary care centers and specialty care centers located throughout Jacksonville. Program completed entirely in Jacksonville. Also offered on campus is an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited pharmacy residency program at Shands Jacksonville.

The goal of our fellowship program is to train physicians to become exceptional clinicians who can apply the most up to date knowledge in the field as well as the principles of patient-centered care to effectively and compassionately diagnose and treat patients with hematological and oncological diseases.

Our talented and well-trained clinicians have the resources and facilities required to deliver world-class care, participate in cutting edge clinical research and provide high quality training required of a superb fellowship program. Our faculty are committed to ensuring that fellows training in our program will gain the skills and aptitudes required for success whatever their long-term career goals. It is designed to provide fellows with a combination of inpatient and outpatient experiences in the setting of community-based hospitals as well as tertiary referral centers.

The strengths of our program are in the fields of disease-specific comprehensive programs, state of the art clinical research, and diverse community. The key to a successful fellowship program is to create an academic atmosphere, build passion towards learning, and instill the principles of camaraderie and teamwork.

Fellows are educated and counseled in a manner designed to promote a life-long commitment to reinforcing and updating their knowledge of basic pathophysiology, recent diagnostic and therapeutic advances in hematology and oncology. Fellows also must participate in fostering advances in knowledge about diagnosis, prevention and treatment of neoplastic and hematologic disorders by conducting and supporting clinical investigation.

In the first year of fellowship, we help to facilitate meaningful mentorship among the new incoming fellows and our faculty.
